story

Rod Begbie is a singer/songwriter who has been playing solo and with support bands in Sydney and Melbourne over the past decade. After recording and launching a live CD in Sydney in 1999, he moved to Melbourne in 2000 to become part of the more vibrant music scene here. Since then he has played at various venues around town, including The Dan O’Connell, Bar 303, The Town Hall Hotel, and Good Morning Captain, attracting a new audience for his soulful, introspective songwriting.

In the last eighteen months, he has shifted his focus onto recording, putting together a band to make a seven track EP of his own material. He has also fronted ‘Autofocus’, a four-piece that in the last year have played at various venues including the Espy, the Palace and the Corner, and which is about to launch it’s own EP.

In the second half of 2006 he launched his EP with a full band and started playing his own material again in a new two-piece acoustic format with writing partner Mark Smythe.
